Meat and Fish/Seafood chill and distribution business traceability has, in recent years, become a business critical requirement, often calling for stringent serial numbering item tracking and uniquely tracked and variable weighted case consideration.
Upon receipt much of this product, if not shipped fresh, requires a blast freeze function – but the demands of this industry requires traceability at case level through the blast freeze function.
As case quantities – pre and post blast freeze – differ there is often a requirement to extract partial pallets from the cold store with a “topping-up” function required to optimise space usage.
In-DEX Warehouse Management Software (In-DEX WMS) controls and minimises handling across this process while guaranteeing traceability throughout. Tare weights and shrinkage are managed along with pallet building and CMR production on despatch.
Norish operates from six sites across the UK. Most sites have significant volumes of meat originating from the UK and from foreign markets, and all items are managed by In-DEX Warehouse Management Software (In-DEX WMS). In 2012, following significantly stringent audits, two sites were designated to handle export of pig meat to China. This was supported by the high levels of traceability and accuracy provided by In-DEX WMS.
TCL operates cold storage facilities in Roscrea Co Tipperary and Portlaoise, Co. Laois with significant blast freezing functions on both sites and a high volume weekly throughput. Much of its product is destined for foreign markets including China. Both sites are fully managed by In-DEX WMS.
