Dale Farm is partnering with a logistics software company in Dublin for management of its warehouses. Principal Logistics Technologies will provide the dairy giant with a warehouse management system, monitoring every stage of its process from its supply chain to production and distribution.The system will be used in Dale Farm’s five centres in Dummanbridge in Co Tyrone, Pennybridge and Dromona in Co Antrim, Rowan Glen in Scotland and Kendal in Cumbria. Its products – from the cheese and milk powers produced in Dunmanbridge to the yogurt and probiotic drinks made at Rowan Glen – are sent to 45 countries around the world.

Joe O’Shea, commercial manager at Principal Logistics Technologies, said the firm first worked with Dale Farm in 2012 in Cumbria, supplying a barcode-scanning handheld warehouse management solution.
“In 2014, we were selected again to deploy a high volume voice picking solution for their Pennybridge site,” he added.
“We are delighted that such a significant dairy manufacturer continues to adopt our solutions and it is a really good endorsement of both our products and staff’s expert abilities.”
Stephen Walker, Dale Farm IT applications manager, said the company was spending up to £40m on the Dunmanbridge site.
It needed a system that would interact with other equipment such as label printers, and direct the flow of materials.

Principal Logistics Technologies was founded in 1993. Its systems have been adapted for
industries which require high levels of traceability, such as food, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
