The facility represents a move into temperature management storage solutions as pharmaceutical products require strict temperature integrity between +2°C to +8°C (cold chain), +5°C to +25°C (ambient monitored) and +15°C to +25°C (ambient controlled) as dictated by the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HRA). The building and equipment is specifically designed for this and it also ensures full redundancy. Interestingly, it employs a 9-high pallet system – one of the tallest employed in any warehouse.
The opening has created 20 new jobs, with an additional 80 planned, as the company expands in areas including Lean Manufacturing Operations, Repackaging, Rebranding, Quality Assurance Inspections and Sampling. An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar congratulated the company on its 50th year of operation commenting, “I know McArdle Skeath pride themselves on exceeding the highest standards, and I have no doubt they will take the same approach to success with this new facility. I wish all the staff and management the very best of luck.”
