Principal Logistics Technologies have significant experience in the management of Inventory throughout manufacturing. This includes managing raw materials delivery into production, finished goods from production, and associated yields management and sub processes like sampling, re-grading and more.
In-DEX Warehouse Management Software (In-DEX WMS)‘s functionality ensures full traceability of goods from production back to raw materials and production line – all date and time stamped.
Products into production can be tracked to a single production area or to a specific production line. These are known as Guided Movements and can be triggered from the importation of a production plan.
Products from production can: automatically be placed on hold until QC checked; be based on a set of criteria; be directed to flow to varying areas based on QC results pending sales orders (e.g. if required for expediting a secondary process).
Dale Farm is part of the United Dairy Farmers Group, a UK dairy farmer co-operative owned by over 1900 dairy farmers who supply it with fresh milk. It has a number of manufacturing operations producing chill deserts, yogurts, cheeses and other dairy products.
In-DEX Warehouse Management Software (In-DEX WMS) is configured different as each site’s demands vary. In Kendal’s chill desert manufacturing operation, In-DEX WMS takes product directly from production & imports an expected production plan and receipts against this.
Product from production is warm and is labelled and prior to put-away In-DEX WMS enquires electronically to Microsoft NAV (the ERP system managing sales orders) to check for any pending sales orders for each product. If so, the operator gets a direction to bring the product directly to a blast chill area enabling the product to be cooled rapidly before despatch. Alternatively, the operator gets an instruction to locate the product in the normal chill area.
In-DEX WMS ensures that no product is despatched from the area until it has reached the required temperature.
