Bulk Hard Commodities like Aluminium, Zinc, Copper, Nickel, Lead and soft commodities like Coffee and Cocoa all have unique challenges. These are all managed within the In-DEX Warehouse Management Software (In-DEX WMS) product suite. The management of bulk commodities occurs well before the physical warehouse. In-DEX Supply Chain tracks the movement of product from the point of origin tracking the port of origin, vessel, and destination port.
In-DEX Supply Chain creates a Shipping Header or Warrant & Capture and re-charge all associated shipping & demurrage charges at a load level. It then automatically transfers and creates a movement into to reflect the physical movement of goods into the warehouse. Therefore, all activities like re-handling and fumigation are fully managed.
Given the physical nature of these products picking can be done by one tonne digger buckets. Stock rotation and replenishment challenges are all robustly managed by In-DEX Supply Chain.
As the products are high value they are often financed by institutions whose interest must be recorded by In-DEX Supply Chain in addition to the stock owner. Significant trading of these commodities can take place in the LME (London Metals Exchange). The physical product continues to be stored at one location requiring an owner change, financial institution change and complexities around storage and invoicing – all of which are seamlessly accommodated for in In-DEX Supply Chain.
